Bilkent University
Adaptive Brain Lab
Prof. Toulopoulou’s lab conducts interdisciplinary work focused on understanding the cognitive, neurobiological, and genetic factors that influence an individual’s risk of developing mental illness or building resilience. The goal is to better understand brain mechanisms that increase vulnerability, which could lead to preventative strategies. For instance, insights into how cumulative genetic and environmental risks are embedded in the developing brain may pave the way for new treatments and interventions aimed at mitigating these risks.
Prof. Toulopoulou welcomes applications from talented prospective PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.

What Can You Expect as a Participant in Our Studies?
Below is a list of the procedures involved in the study, which will take approximately 3 hours in total.
Imaging
Imaging is performed entirely on the basis of magnetic principles, and no harmful radiation or similar forms of energy are emitted into the body.

Environmental Assesments
Our studies also include assessments of environmental factors, such as relevant life experiences and aspects of the one’s daily life.
