About Us

Research at the Adaptive Brain Lab is interdisciplinary and focuses on understanding the cognitive, neurobiological, and genetic mechanisms that influence an individual’s susceptibility to developing mental illness or, alternatively, resilience. It is hoped that a better understanding of the brain mechanisms that increase vulnerability may make prevention possible. For example, insights into how cumulative genetic risk, together with environmental risk, becomes physically embedded in the developing brain may lead to new treatments and provide opportunities for meaningful interventions by eliminating or compensating for genetic and environmental influences. The graduate students in the laboratory work tirelessly to produce the best possible research together with their Turkish and international collaborators.
